Summer 2024 Weekly Garden Volunteer Program
Edible Schoolyard NYC is seeking committed volunteers to join us for our summer garden volunteer program! This is a weekly commitment that runs from Tuesday, July 9 to Tuesday, August 27 at P.S. 216 in Gravesend, Brooklyn.
As an Edible Schoolyard NYC volunteer, you’ll join our citywide community of urban gardeners and food educators, helping to grow the next generation of healthy kids. Inquiries are always welcome, but please note that volunteer opportunities are currently very limited due to Covid-19 restrictions. Once you’ve filled out the form linked below, you will be contacted when a volunteer opportunity becomes available.
“The moral of the story is that we need to work together to get things accomplished.”
— Fifth grader at P.S. 7
Volunteerships
Volunteerships are semester-long programs. You’ll assist in the kitchen or garden one or two weekdays per week, during the day, for three to five months during the fall or spring semester. Garden volunteers are also needed for summer term. All volunteers are required to undergo a one-time, fingerprinted background check to be eligible to work at a public school. Please see below for current and upcoming volunteer opportunities:
Garden Volunteers
As a garden volunteer, you’ll assist Edible Schoolyard NYC staff in garden maintenance. Get ready to get your hands dirty, working rain or shine to develop and share urban organic gardening skills. All levels of gardeners are welcome!
Virtual Corporate Engagements
Looking to become a good corporate citizen? Edible Schoolyard NYC hosts virtual corporate engagements so that companies can give back to their communities, participate in internal team building and learn new skills. To inquire about a corporate work day, please contact us.
